I'm new to the forums, but I have a question. I've looked around the FAQ's and definitely used the search function, so if this topic is already out there somewhere I apologise.
Now to the matter at hand.
I recently purchased an Ashdown 220 Touring 112. I absolutely love the sound it produces.
However, it also produces a rather weird smell. A mixture of tin solder, coffee/plastic sort of smell. (it is a nice smell if you're into the smell of vinyl records for example). It also crackles when I power it up (sparkly sounding crackles coming from the speaker). These last for about a minute, then it goes silent (and I can play bass on it). This all happens with the volume turned all the way down.
Last night I left it on for about an hour, all volume and gain knobs turned to 0. After about an hour or so it was OFF. Tried switching the mains switch, didn't do jack sh*t. Today I turned it on and it works again.
I've been using it for a month now, without any problems, but this has got me scared. I need to know if this is normal or if I need to take it in for repairs. Might be that it switches off if it gets too hot, but I imagine playing it with the volume cranked up would heat it up more.
