Notable MusicMan Stingray/Sterling users

Norm Stockton (Lincoln Brewster) - StingRay 5, IIRC.

Ross Valory (Journey) - a Sterling 4 IIRC, though he switches basses so often he might be on to something else by now.

Jay deMarcus (Rascal Flatts) - Have seen him rocking a StingRay 5

Pino Palladino - the world famous fretless Ray

The interesting thing about MusicMan players is, I see a lot of guys playing Sterlings and StingRays as one of the axes in their arsenal, but I don't see many guys playing a Ray or Sterling exclusively, full-time.

Charlie Meeks (natural Sting Ray) w/ Chuck Mangione. Check out '70s Pop-Jazz stuff like "Feels So Good" & "Give It All You Got".

Jim Kurzdorfer (sunburst Sting Ray)...Spyro Gyra's original bassist.

True. I'd be interested in knowing why. I play them full time. I understand their distinctive voice and how they don't entirely replace a P, J or a Rick. I guess it's just me that feels an EBMM covers those basses(no pun intended) BETTER.

Cool thread. I know there's been a few mentioned already...
Stevie Wonders bass player Nate Watts played a Stingray in the late 70's / early 80's. U can hear his 79" Ray on 'Do I Do'.
Mark King used a couple of Stingrays for the "Forever Now" album.

Tim Commerford before he switched to J-basses. Listen to the self titled Rage Against the Machine album from the early 90's to catch some great 2 band Stingray tone thats really forward in the mix.
Patrick Dahlheimer: that first Live album "Throwing Copper" has a lot of Stingray on it. You can hear it growling away. Listen to "Iris" and "I Alone".
...thanks for those, guys! I love HOW they play, but I never really played one plugged in- I checked these out and they were a great education for me.

Anyone got any more specific notable Stingray recordings?
