Novation MiniNova and McMillen 12 step

I really want to get a MiniNova as a first synth to add some depth to projects and stuff. Anyone got any experience with it? Seems to answer all I need.

And it has MIDI in and out, can I hook a Keith McMillen 12 Step to it and control it with that?

The 12 step has a midi editor you load on a pc and then can set the pedals to do any midi you want.
Get the McMillen MIDI Expander to plug it into any 5-pin MIDI input
