NPD - Broughton Low + High Pass Filter

Here's a good read:
How fast do guitar pedals drain batteries? - Wampler Pedals

And I would strongly suggest something like a Cioks DC7 isolated power supply. A One Spot is a good wall wart (well it's the best wall wart) but it's not isolated, it's current limited, and it's only 9v. It will get you started though.

Something like that would be nice, someday, but at the moment an extra $240 is more than I'd like to spend so I'm going to stick to the more affordable options until I've got some extra spending money.

I ordered one of these recently and have just now had a chance to plug it in and try it out. @Azure Skies does very nice work - the craftsmanship on this is flawless.

I got this to tame down the muddy low end and sizzly top end noise. Current settings are as shown and I think it sounds pretty good - I assume I need the HPF set around 32 for a low B string, and the gain set to where it's no louder than bypassed. Is there any advantage to setting the gain higher? I've got some room to play with.

Any other tips for getting the most out of this pedal? What frequency do folks like their LPFs set to?

nice, I have the same one for the same reasons. Set to 40/5k

With my HPF - it really likes 18volt power. I put it at the end of my pedal chain, that way it catches all of the ultra-low crap my POG throws out. I put a DI box after it.
Now if someone (@Azure Skies, I'm looking in your direction) would make more Messenger DI's, I would totally buy one and eliminate both my HPF and my Pre-Amp DI

What's the upside to running it at 18v?

This is directly from Broughton :

The pedal can be powered by a 9V battery or a DC power supply (not included). The DC supply should be a standard Boss style connector, center negative polarity. It can accept 9 to 24 volts. Although 9 volts is sufficient for most applications, higher voltages will provide more headroom when using the pedal with hotter signals.

Just picked up one last night to run in front of my Noble. I’m exploring the roundwound strings world and thought it might help with any clank and/or string noise with my P. Curious what settings would be a good starting point on the LPF side? I haven’t had a chance to play it yet but I will say at 18V, the on light is like a laser beam searing my eyes (ok not quite but still super bright)!

I like clank, so I set mine around 4khz to keep the clank and lose the sizzles and ice picks. For your purposes, I suggest you start around something more like 1khz.

Yep, start around there and if it sounds too muffled, slowly bring the knob up. It's easy to adjust your upper and lower frequency settings, play around with them until it sounds right. It's an extremely user friendly pedal.
