Separately they sound good, but together they sound really good. I am pleased with the quality of these pedals and totally dig what can do. The Sub Atomic could likely kick my LS-2 / Ultimate Drive combo off the board. Still undecided on that but the DSM pedals are staying for sure.

I'm actually looking to experiment with basically this combo (the OmniCabSim Deluxe instead of mini) and see if just those two pedals can be my "pre-amp section" running into the FX return on my amp. Between the tone knob on the sub atomic and then more or less 5 EQ shaping knobs on the deluxe, (low pass filter, high pass filter, low end boost/cut, 450hz flat or cut, and 800hz boost or flat) I going to see what I can produce.

Have you run your signal chain through both the cab sim and an actual cab at the same time or only used it for DI? I was wondering if it would just be a wet blanket effect or if some unique tones could be produced that way.

So far on the SubAtomic experimenting with crossover switches & blend knob really yields some cool tones. Then I add gain to taste and use the tone knob to fine tune depending on the bass.

I have run the OmniCabSim mini both ways. There are some very cool tones when combining the cab sim (fridge setting) & my bass cab. However; my cab has it's own voice and the sim does not equate to better, just different. (GB NeoX loaded with OEM NX2 Fatails) So usually I just send the cab sim FOH when using my own back line.

It's great having so many options

There is a high probability the SubAtomic will kick the LS-2/UD combo off the board...lol

Good to know. I assumed if it worked you would need to tweak the knobs a bit going between recording/practicing through an audio interface and plugging into a cab, but that's exciting to know that it does!

Update:
The SubAtomic did in fact kick the LS-2/OCD clone off the board today. It does evrything I was trying do with that combo and so much more. Not only does it sound better, it just gets there so much easier. Another surprise is it just works better (for me) overall in front of my (almost always on) Pigtronix Bass Fat Drive instead of after. So here is where my board board stands as of today. It may not look pretty but it sounds great.

I've been really happy with my setup as well: Bass -> sub atomic -> omni cab sim deluxe -> FX return or audio interface. I'll be adding a parametric EQ in the future (to add in some more upper mids), but that's it. The tweaking on both pedals just seems so intuitive compared to others.

After playing around a bit for my "clean"/slightly over-driven sound, I keep going back to having the clean signal be full range (middle switch setting) and the OD signal being just the top end (middle setting again). I still haven't settled on the settings for full on fuzz/OD. What are your settings like?

I run the switches middle & middle also. I really like what the bottom set flat and dirt with top boost gives me overall. I adjust blend, gain and tone as needed/wanted. The subatomic feeding my omnicabsim mini is just... just bad a$$. Having toys like octave, chorus & delay in between let me really cover a lot of ground. I'm sure my neighbors are not happy with me this weekend. But, gotta test everything at gig volume with tunes playing.
I'm a very happy camper right now.

Same here. Using the cab sim to dial my sound in has made me realize I've been wanting to "EQ" with low and high pass filters from the get go. There have been so many times where I've just wanted to reveal or mask more of what was already in my signal and not just boost it or cut it and the cab sim lets me do that.

I concur. That could very well be the reason the darkglass X series pedals are popular. For my needs the DSM pedals hit the sweet spot. I like the way they sound and interact with each other and imo they are very user friendly.
