I mean I am not sure it is possible to simply not load and IR into the box, so if you want a flat response IR you would have to create it.

No, I'd only want the IR to stay on when the signal is coming out of the DI XLR output regardless if the DI switch is on pre or post.

Of course I can use the "post" and just set the EQ flat but if I want to use the EQ for my amp through the plug output (naturally with the IR off) then the settings effect the DI signal too.

I actually loaded a blank IR into mine, purely so I can use it as an always on HPF. It works perfectly. I tend to only use the MLD as an HPF these days. Maybe 2-4 songs per gig if I need some drive and/or clean boost for a solo.

This pedal hasn't left my board since I bought it.

Also it's saved the day for my guitarists as I also double as the band engineer. I have 2 different guitar IR's. One for an electric Fender amp, the other am acoustic guitar IR. When my band mate's amp died at a gig, I ripped the MLD off my board, using my laptop I changed the IR from my HPF to the Fender guitar amp IR, and had him go direct from his pedal board to my NUX, into my mixer. The acoustic IR is nice to warm up a harsher piezo acoustic guitar pickup.
