NPD: Trace Elliot Transit B

Thanks everyone for your discussions on the Transit B. After reading here and watching some youtube reviews I just ordered one and am looking forward to trying it out!

At my previous church I used to play with a real amp and cab stack (usually a TH500 and 2x GK Neo 112 cabs) as they didn't have enough PA to handle the low end. We started going to a new, larger church a couple months ago where I now play every 2nd or 3rd week, and they have a FANTASTIC PA with huge subs and the system just sounds GREAT! It's all IEM. So far I've been using a 20yr old Sans Amp and while it's not awful, it's not great either. I go back and forth between passive and active basses, and with the passive basses there are times I'm just not able to pull out the note definition I'm wanting with the 3 band EQ of the Sans Amp. I don't know where the mid EQ point is set exactly but adding in mids gets "boxy" real fast, and conversely, pulling some mids out gets "wooly" pretty quick. I'm kinda stuck just having to run it near flat and not getting the sounds I want.

I'm hoping that the Transit B's 5 band EQ will help me out a bit in that regard. I'm also a noob when it comes to compression. I know proper compression has the potential to thicken and smooth my output and I'm looking forward to this more simple split-band 2 knob approach to help me figure it out and hear/understand what's happening. BasstheWorld on youtube thought this was a good option for folks new to some effects. *raises hand* That's me!

I've been primarily a straight-to-amp guy for my whole life and have generally gone for clean tones, sometimes with JUST a smidge of overdrive for a bit of hair/warmth. It's lookin' like this little buddy might be the ticket for me. I'll come back and share my thoughts after I get to play with it a bit. Sweetwater just sent my shipping notification, and it should arrive Thursday.
