No, I wrote to inquire about the knob one... I would fiddle too often not to have the control on the top. They don't advertise it, otherwise i would have gone for that one right away.

Jeez, no reason not to. Honestly, the difference in pickup output between my P and J requires a tweak. Knob is the way to go.

Man, as a boost, this thing makes an old tube amp sing. With a moderate amount of germanium bias crankage and a healthy boost, the tone is killing.

I have been comparing a 4-knob TC Spark, TC Mojomojo, Keeley Super Phat Mod, Bass Soul Food, my beloved Fifth Gear v2 and my new favorite overdrive, the Jam Lucydreamer Bass. Phat Phuk B + Lucydreamer is my new ultimate combo. The PPB has the best low-end of any booster or OD that I've played. And the clipping is unique to any other pedal I know, and is closest to the sound I have in my head of what a low-gain OD bass signal should sound like. Add that to the LD's huge gain range and versatility through its mix and tone knobs, and they are a serious match. Two great tastes that go great together. Didn't think it possible, but Fifth Gear is going on the shelf.

With the bias knob, isn't it the same as the Suppa Phat Phuk? Or is there a difference?

I had the Suppa for a while and I think the Fatness knob sorta acted like some kind of H/LPF. I'll have to see if I still have a copy of the sheet that came with it that explains that knob.

Mine is currently on its way back from W&C. It developed a noise issue. One thing that's great about the company is their no questions asked lifetime warranty. Just ship it to them and they'll fix it for free even if you bought it used, which I did. They've earned some future business from me.

Attached is the info sheet that came withe Suppa ... this is at the bottom ...

VOLUME: Makes it louder or not so loud when ya turn it.
LOW-CUT: A high-pass filter. Turn it clockwise, more lows, counter clockwise more treble
BIAS: Adjusts the bias of the germanium transistor (see info above)

My bias knob PPB arrived and is fantastic. Nothing else sounds like this pedal. It’s so amp-y. Even with low bias, there is a subtle sheen and a shift in the midrange that I think is gonna make it an always-on. I ended up keeping the Jam Lucydreamer OD (it’s a real sleeper) and the PPB.

Where do you all have it in the chain? I can’t tell where the best placement should be. Maybe last in line?

I would probably get another one with the external bias knob. Mine needed constant adjustment. It's a beautiful looking and sounding pedal.

I use a Bass Drive as and always on grit pedal, set with flat mids. This has always been on my radar.

I have just received my second one. Had one before, some years ago. I noticed that the color has changed, the newer pink is more flashy and less sparkly.

I read somewhere that the circuit inside was a bit different, with no change in the sound. Did you have time to compare both?
