There are lots of those stands that have lasted many years...
The windings on the height adjustment knob of my tripod stand have practically vanished, making the stand unusable. To be honest not only did I think this was a thing of the past (I bought my NXT new less than a year ago), but I'm also really miffed because these instruments are not exactly cheap.
I've now bought a bolt from a hardware store and use a spanner for fixing it. At least that will last - it has to, because the windings are properly cut into the metal, not added as a soft layer of mystery material as on the knob that came with the stand.
Call NS. They have very good service. If it’s a part that can be replaced, I would imagine that they have them. There are lots of those stands that have lasted many years so I’m sure yours is an aberration.
I’ve been playing NSD basses since they first came on the scene and have always used the heavy duty tripod stands. Even when I was borrowing an NXT or WAV from a distributor I would always get the loaner with the heavy duty stand.I contacted NS with the same problem, and they had a new bolt headed my way the next day. After that happened, I had some Backstage Points built up at Musicians Friend, so I used that credit and ordered the upgraded stand that comes with the CR upright, which is essentially a beefy cymbal stand modified with a NS upright mount. Absolutely worth the purchase... I wish the NXTs would just come with that stand, it would be worth the extra $ with the initial purchase IMO. I'm 100% happy I got it... It's much more gig sturdy, don't need a bolt stripping in the middle of a gig!
5sg.
Very pleasant to carry in the gig bag. So, for situations when doof to door transport isn’t provided I’ll be using the light weight stand as much as I can.
There are other mounts beside the tripod mount.I'm learning on acoustic Bass. I'm wondering if anyone has any comments about using an NS which is kind of stuck to the floor and doesn't move with your body.
Yes..ok... but the NS doesn't seem to have a body like an upright bass to meet you at your hip. There are other mounts beside the tripod mount.
Check out an endpin mount if you want the movement flexibility.

A body support is available as well from NS, and of course you have to pay extra for it as well as for the endpin.Yes..ok... but the NS doesn't seem to have a body like an upright bass to meet you at your hip.

Radial Bassbone OD, channel A with PZD (10M impedance) enabled. That's all it needed.Yesterday, my NSD NXTa sounded incredible !
It was an Irish Pub gig in which I usually plug it into a Fishman preamp, and then directly into the house system. I recently bought a Phil Jones amp and a MarkBass 2x10... The result was incredible ! Can't wait to try it live with my old Kay.
What is your sound chain to get the best sound out of your NSD ??
