Double Bass NS Designs Bass Thumb Stop Location Help

Find the D note on the G string with your first finger and hold it down. Get your thumb in a comfortable place for all of the notes in that position and then place the thumbstop where you think it's going to help your thumb land in the right place every time. If you have an acoustic bass already, you can take some measurements where your heal of the neck is and mimic that placement too.

I hope this helps.

Taking the measurement on a different instrument implies that their scale is the same.
Also some instruments have an Eb neck instead of D.
If you’re used to an Eb neck then set it that way on the NS.
True! Good point. I did not take measurements. I set it the first way. My acoustic bass is 40.5" and the NS is fixed at 42 or something and measurements would not have done much for me anyway. I'm definitely not an expert on this particular thing just someone who has one and did it once. I was speculating that one could take measurements and should have clarified that. Just another jazzhole winging it.
