NS WAV or other upright bass thoughts?

I'm interested in getting an NS DESIGN WAV BASS
I've never played an upright before and am interested in thoughts and preferences on the upright especially the electric uprights

Hi Jdash, I was similar to you (had never played upright--except for a little noodling at music stores) when about two years ago I came upon a used NS Design NXT upright at a local music store. The price was right and I was really intrigued so I bought it. Turned out I fell in love with it and it became my main instrument. I was already used to fretless. The 42" scale was a challenge, but not insurmountable. I even began teaching myself how to bow (thanks to YouTube videos). Bandmates and audience members at gigs thought it was the coolest thing.

I liked it so much I decided to upgrade and replace it with an NS Design CRM upright (the one with the magnetic pickups in addition to the piezo) in order to get more tonal options. But I had a hard time finding a used one (no way I could afford new). What I did find was an NS Design Omni bass (fretless), which is just like the upright except it is a 34" scale neck (same as a bass guitar). I took a chance and bought a used Omni CRM and I love it even more than the upright. It has the upright sound and feel, but for someone like me who has no training in upright it is so much easier to play. So I'm going to sell the upright and stick with the Omni.

I have also played the Ibanez UB804, which is also a 34" scale neck, but I wasn't impressed with the sound (although the price is nice). Your mileage may vary.
