NSD: Ernie Ball Group V flatwounds

I wanted to try flatwound strings for a while, thanks to TB.

My Squier Vintage Modified Jazz 5 was the perfect candidate as I wanted this bass to sound/feel different than the 2 other basses I have (LTD Surveyor 5 active and Yamaha TRBX-505 active/passive). A passive Jazz with flats, what to not like?!?!

After reading countless threads about flatwound strings, I decided on the Ernie Ball Group V. Main reasons: stiffer than others, more classic sound and feel, not to pricey, and available somewhere in Canada. I paid $60cad, saving $20 because of price mismatch at L&MQ in Montreal.

First impression: wow. Very good bass sound and the highs are definitely softer than roundwounds. I'm sure I would like them when they dull a bit with age.

My first flats and I would have never tried them not being a TB member. Thanks guys.

PS: I will update that thread over the next months to give my opinion when they'll age.

Both EB 2810 and 2816 has nice B string .

My P bass has been wearing the Group IV (40-95) for the last month and I like them a lot! Comfortable tension/stiffness without feeling too loose or floppy. A nice middle-of-the-road in tonal character with a clean and clear midrange - not too bright or roundwound-ish (like the Cobalt Flats) and not too thumpy or thuddy like some traditional flats.

I paid $90 CAD for two sets with shipping and no tax.

Where did you get them from? If, according to TB, they last for so long I will order a set in the next couple of years
