The Gold Tapes and the Gold Flats are totally different strings in terms of tension. While both have nice mids and nice gold lusters, the tapes are a lot looser than the flats. Don't get the tapes (or any of La Bella's tapes for that matter) if you plan on tuning below standard tuning. I tried that last year on a recording, and my bass line was way out of tune when I played it back isolated.
