    So, here's the bass:

Paid $2200 to Bass UK and here was my reasoning:

    1) Get one of Roger's basses (my 3rd NYC) at a great price

    2) Best Case:

Smokin bass that I could buy a pickguard for to cover up the truly atrocious routing job.

*Little side note/public service announcement on that:

Kids, if you DO end up routing out one of Roger's basses for different pickups, I would NOT recommend consuming corn liquor in gallon-quantities before operating the router. AND, furthermore, after you survey your handiwork, swaying from side to side and remembering that the blurry bass in the middle of your vision is in fact the one to modify, do NOT send it out like that to be refinished.

    3) Worst-Case:

I help rescue one of Roger's basses from the cold clime of the UK, and then some lucky Talkbass comrade can then add the pickguard and/or restore the pickups. The dollar amount needed for that project would STILL put you at well-below what a good NYC Sadowsky is going for.

    BOTTOM LINE:

This is actually a smokin bass. I've had WAY too many of Roger's basses before landing on my current setup (NYC PJ5 and Modern Fretless) and this bass is right up there with them in play-ability and tone. It has every bit of that 'Sadowsky Sound' (Big and Fat and just right) but the coil tap setup allows for a lot more tweaking than you'd normally get.

It's not as aggressive as a standard ash/maple J5 set flat, but can get there with some EQ'ing. Conversely, it has a built-in low-mid thickness that just kills for modern R&B/Jazz.

    SPECS:

    1.875 nut

    Ebony Fretboard (21 frets)

Body Wood : ??? Really not sure. I would imagine it's mahogany based off of the built-in tone. It's definitely lightweight. I'd put it at/below 9 lbs and will give an exact weight later on.

Color: Awesome. It really looks great under some stage lights.

Weird 'Gary Willis' Ramp: Destroyed when I tried to take it off.

    MISC:

-I have a built-for-the-apocalypse Warwick flight case that this came in that is included .

-Do NOT want to do an international shipment unless buyer pays shipping

-Would entertain trades-plus cash. Something along the following lines:

    1) Metro MV5 and/or Modern 5 strings
    2) Fender Precision with a 1.75 nut (Roadworn/etc) plus cash
    3) Aguilar AG700/AG500SC plus cash
    4) Accugroove Cabs plus cash
    5) wildcard

More pics to come!!!!! Maybe even some soundclips and some tutorials on how to get drunk as a skunk and not make routing mistakes like this.

    to clarify:

    1) Do NOT know the exact model of Duncans

    2) The bass DOES have the original Sadowsky preamp

    3) do NOT have the ramp.

This is a killer deal. If it were me, I'd just get some EMG45-shaped pickups, rout wider, and make it sweet. Too bad I don't have the cash to rescue it, but I think the fix would be relatively easy.

And those appear to be the Duncan NYC pickups.
