Nylon flat-wounds with pick?

I have been using nylon flat-wounds for fingerstyle playing and have been getting a nice low thump sound going. I find that I need to use a pick on some new, more rock-oriented songs and am finding the tone from the nylon-wounds plucked with a pick to be a bit strange. With careful playing with the pick (pushing the strings vs smacking them), it seems that I can get a pretty interesting sound from them however. I am on the fence about how I feel about it and am considering going back to something like D'Addario half-wounds since I am going for a rock sound with a pick. Thoughts/ experiences?
