Respectfully, I also agree. I also feel my points / examples are valid and were not out of line or rude. I feel that guys initial response to my conclusion (which i have come to after years of studying tones, analysis of musicians, and for what reason certain musicians always sound/feel like themselves ) Granted, all instruments have their own tones. Definitely. Agreed? But,...as an example, if Edgar Meyer and Stanley Clarke played the same piece on same bass the same room with the same bow, are they not going to sound and feel uniquely like themselves? Thats all im saying.
As far as my initial post in thread, which I feel was responded to in a snarky manner by that person, i considered them to be rude.

My D string on the Obligato set I had broke after 10 hours. I threw them away and never bought them again.

That's not what you said, quite the opposite. You said,

Tone comes from the hands. Period.

That does not allow for instruments to "have their own tones." That does not allow for strings to have discernible characteristics. "Period" means the hands and nothing more. Which no sane and informed person believes. Obviously, the musician is a key factor, or the key factor, in the equation. Hence why there is a forum here to discuss "Bassists." But this is a forum to discuss strings, and a thread about strings. People come here to discuss the different characteristics of strings, including tone.

Again, this was a thread about strings. Instead of simply observing what was said or adding to the discussion, your post attempted to mock the O.P. I thought it was inappropriate and out of line, not to mention altogether untrue, and I believed you needed to be called out for it.

Look dude, if you can play a shuffle and make it sound good, cheers to you. If you can't, buy some string that makes you feel like you can.

I'm not into getting ambushed for contributing a relative statement in context. Expand yourself man.

Obligatos are terrible in my experience.

Go sell some insurance or something.
