obp-1 jack connection

Hi, im trying to wire a bass guitar of mine after getting a longer jack and want to connect an aquilar obp-1 to it but i cant understand the diagram. in the diagram it shows 3 wires connecting to the jack (green, black, black) but my new jack seems to have only two lugs. can somebody tell which wire connects to what?

You have a "mono" jack, which will not work unless you want to leave the battery connected to the preamp at all times.
You will need a "stereo" jack, which has a ring terminal that allows the negative terminal of the battery to shunt to ground when a cable is inserted in the jack.

ok that makes sense, so il get a stero jack. do you know which wires connect to which lugs tho? and I think I made a mistake there are actualy 4 wires connected to the jack i believe

The jack you are showing is from Stew Mac. It does have three connections. Two are at the end, and the third one, which is ground, is the big wire clamp sticking out. Solder your ground wire to that.

The ring connection is where your battery goes. The tip is the hot.
