obscure (but funny) comedy television

Discussion in 'Off Topic [BG]' started by Killed_by_Death, Nov 26, 2017.

  1. A few I can think of right off the top of my head:

    The I.T. Crowd

    Coupling (UK) naughty & hilarious

    The Young Ones (UK)

    Happy Endings (Elisha Cuthbert)

Suddenly Susan (Brooke Shields & Kathy Griffin)

Getting tired of watching all the xMas episodes of comedy re-runs that are being broadcast, so I'm looking for something else...

Louis C.K.'s show is funny as well as Dice Clay's

Charlie Sheen's Anger Management had it's moments

Oh, and I would rate Rescue Me up there as one of the best comedy-dramas EVER!

  3. Not a bad idea, it's been a very long time since I've seen any Second City TV.

The McKenzie brothers used to really crack me up:

  8. I was pretty close to listing Police Squad, but I don't think it was on long.

The State and Stella are two of the greatest shows ever made, and very similar as a lot of the people are the same.

I was a big Dennis Leary stand up fan and then he did Rescue Me so i was in on that from day one. Sadly, like most serialized TV i really liked the first season but lost the bubble pretty quick after that. There have been exceptions but they are rare. But yeah, i really enjoyed him in Rescue Me and i also get to be pleasantly surprised when i see an old episode i’ve never seen and it’s good.

The Tick 1. I thought this very short-lived show was pretty funny - if you're seriously warped, like me. The episode where everybody's idol, Mister Immortal, dies (!?!?) while having sex with Captain Liberty, was a hoot. But, live action can't duplicate a cartoon (not then, and not for TV, anyway), so... bye bye, Tick...;)

Schitt's Creek with Eugene Levy and Chris Elliott is a current, yet somewhat obscure show that's funny.

Not obscure if you live in Canada or watch PBS; but, The Red Green Show is funny.
