Octave up pedal?

As someone who owns, and loves, a whammy, I still disagree. The 2 octave up setting on the whammy doesn't sound anywhere near as good as the POG. And I have owned well over a grand (closer to two) worth of EHX stuff, for several years, and have yet to have a single one crap out on me.

bah. i've had 5 ehx pedals (every one i've ever owned) die on me, none of them made it more than a week.. wouldent you regard it as crap if that happened to you? especially with $300 pedals.. but maybe they just hate me, and intentionally give me the junky ones.. back on topic:

i forgot to mention that i use the +2 octave setting on the whammy with a wah left on at the heel right before it. dirt from a VT or fuzz (brown dog usually) helps depending on the setting your using the sound in.

but, if your blending with your clean signal, this whole setup would require a whammy (and its own power supply), a blender, a wah, and fuzz. depends if you'll use the fuzz and wah for other stuff weather or not its worth all that real estate. IMO, its amazing. not to mention that the whammy isint just an octave pedal, it also has the whammy function

I'm playing in a three-piece, I use an EHX Micro POG (no complaints about quality) through a guitar processor (DigiTech RP250) and into a guitar amp (Fender Twin). When the guitar solo starts I stomp on my ABY switch (Radial) and instant rhythm guitar player. The Micro POG tracks great and I can get any sound I want with the processor (including another octave up, a fifth, harmony, etc.). I could run it from the processor directly into the PA, but having the guitar amp on the other side of the stage from the guitar player helps with stage volume and really sounds like another player. And the guitar amp makes it sound more like a real guitar, in my opinion.

I own the HOG, have played the POG and Micro, and have owned the Boss ME-50B. All of the EHX offerings sound better than the ME-50B. I can't attest to the Whammy or others.

I use the HOG with an English Muff'n to get a raunchy rhythm guitar sound.

I don't know if anyone has any experience with a Lovepedal Believe octave, but it is a cleaner octave up fuzz.
Haven't heard anything about it with bass, though, and they are hard to come by.

I've tried the POG and the Whammy and the +2 octave on both sounds pathetic.

The +1 octave is also fairly pathetic-sounding but bearable.

I haven't tried any Eventide gear but that's a lot of cash to throw at one simple effect, if that's all you want.

TBH I think all resampling effects are equally weak, from what I've heard. I just wouldn't bother unless you're planning to blend them with something more substantial, or it's just for very occasional special effects. In which case buy the Whammy because it will be cheaper.

Is there such as thing as a fast tracking one or two octave-up effect pedal? In some songs, I'd like to double my bass sound - current clean signal, doubled with clean or distorted "guitar like" sound through a box. Or maybe a midi pitch sensor that I could route through a midi tone module, also to double my current clean bass sound?
The baloney that surrounds most pedal descriptions is incomprehensible to me.
Many thanks if anyone can share their exprience or thoughts.
