Need to update this comment: I loved it at first, but found after a few months that I couldn't get the tone I really wanted, which apparently requires live tubes.
I switched to the Two Notes Le Bass and it makes the sounds I want. The pedal itself has functionality issues (I can only use 2 of the 4 modes because of wildly varying volume levels between channels) but it does what I want.
Thread resurrect! So I see that everyone was recommending the Grizzly for hot actives. I have a VT bass and want to love it, but am looking for that speaker strained sound/VT sound from a pedal that works well with actives Basses. I’m finding the fact that my VT pedal, amp, and bongo have preamps too many EQ points to deal with. Has something come out that is any better than the Grizzly ?
Damnation Audio MBD-1 (or now the MBD-2). I bought the MBD-1 after it came out and subsequently sold the Grizzly, LOVE the MBD. It works great with my active basses.
