Odd 1975 Fender Precision Bass Neck Stamp

In need of some help from all of the Fender neck date/stamp geeks out there. I have a very well played and loved 1975 Precision bass. Everything about this bass appears to be legit with exception to the pickguard which is on it in the photo below. But I even have the original pickguard! Everything seems to check out from the neck plate, Pickup dates, down to the string tree and Tuners. Has the original case. The headstock has darkened quite a bit which is consistent with other 70’s Fender guitars that have been exposed to years of smoky studios and bars and the lacquer has had a reaction to the smoke. The one thing throwing me for a loop is this weird neck stamp. It’s starting to fade a bit but it reads 01-06-0954 or what I think is a 4???

What in the hell is this? I know that 01 specifies Precision bass, but shouldn’t the second numbers be 02 or 03 for Maple neck? Has anyone seen this before? Is this neck not a true Fender bass neck? Can anyone help?

The neck is legit. Vintage Fender neck stamps are just wierd once in a while. The 3rd & 4th digits should be “03” (maple fretted neck). “06” isn’t a code for anything, but sometimes the number wheel on the rubber stamp would just get moved without being noticed. I even had a ‘66 dot and bound Jazz neck with a ‘63 stamp (they didn’t do binding until ‘66 and everything else on the bass dated to ‘66).

I know I'm replying to a really old thread but maybe someone's still listening and confused haha) but I just picked up a '75 P Bass with the same "06" neck stamp and was mystified by two things:
1. the stamp code
2. and that while it's the 100% original precision neck that came with the body, it has a jazz bass profile neck!
So apparently, Fender either produced a select number of P's with a Jazz neck or it was a custom thing. Either way, 06 is the code for that neck style. Fuzzbuzz, if you're still out there, does yours have the Jazz neck?

If it has a Jazz bass neck then it is a Fender "A" width neck. Yes they made them. Yes it is likely real.

Yes it was a custom order option. You can see in the price list here precision basses with a “narrow neck” option
