I'm looking into making a cab for a single 15, most of the designs I see are based on the 1ft D 2 ft W 3ft H or square and shallow. I'm a bit interested in making a box something like 2 ft square and 3+ ft deep. winISD says it should work fine but I want some people's thoughts on the idea. Maybe one of the genius math/physics people will chime in and speak at great lenghts about it. I can see standing waves being more of an issue at higher frequencies with a longer box but I'm speculating here.

I saw some triangular shaped guitar cabs at NAMM this summer. Looked pretty sweet when they stacked them into a Triforce shape.

Dispersion is always an issue with a single driver cab. You'll hear yourself much better if the cab is made as narrow and high as possible, with the driver mounted at the top of the baffle.
That sounds like a description of this. I actually played through one of those for a while - it was a beast to move, but produced a lot of sound for a single 15".
Yeah that is a bit much for what i want. Very intimidating though, show up to a birthday party with it. 
Could you prop a triangle cab at a 45 degree angle to try to prevent some of the dispersion? Or does it have more to do with the depth of the box?

It has to do with whether the angle of incidence from the cone to your ears is slight or severe. The mids from a fifteen travel in a very tight arc.

Ah, the old sugar scoop cabs! They take me back to the 70's when they were all the rage for the low end in PA's. Good for their day but I was very glad to see them go the way of the pterodactyl in the 80's.
That's all I could think of at the moment. But that's exactly what the cabs looked like.
That triforce setup has my interest peaked. Where would I start another post on how to build this setup? I'm not sure if amps is the right place. Also, anybody know how to calculate the volume of a triangle tube? I looked and can't find what I'm looking for.

I had two of those with JBL K140 speakers in the 80s. Impossible to move, impractical, but did they ever kick.
