I replaced my EPI UL2 410 with the older Big Baby T. The Big Baby T is not claimed to be as " loud" as a good 410, but at the volume I could hear the UL2 start to compress in the low end, the Big Baby T doesn't. I don't think the claims are far away. I'm currently waiting on a Big Baby2, even smaller, lighter and reputedly louder, we'll see. My first Barefaced cab, a Midget T, which i still have and gig, knocked the stuffing out my EA NL210. For me these are brilliant cabs.

Yes, no problem reproducing full-range music more cleanly than many PA speakers. Given enough power, expect a single BB2 to be able to play as loud as a pair of MB112s and with more bottom.

Thank you Alex.

I am still torn between this and fEARful/less, but I am really drawn towards the BB2.

I suppose by the time I sell enough equipment to fund it, then I will have had time to decide.

Anybody in need of a Crest Mixing desk? LOL.

That difference isn't fantasy, it's down to bass cabs historically under performing.

The good cabs today, like Barefaced and Greenboy, for example, are what bass cabs were always capable of but were never designed or built.

What a great time to be a bass player.

I really don't like to give out free advertising or be an infomercial but, yeah the claims aren't far off at all. Im talking about Alex's custom drivers. The drivers are what makes the difference. He was already doing his cabs the best that could be done. My supertwin will put out about the same as my nv610, and the nv610 is alittle louder than an ampeg 8x10. You just need more clean watts to feed the twin. The twin will put out more low end and behave better off axis. I'll bet the version with the horn would kill and also be one of the best pa speakers you can get. I took a gamble on the twin. The awsome results are the only reason I shelled out even more money and am still waiting on my retro six10. Alex has better drivers than anyone else.

Thanks - that's exactly what I'd say if the Commercial User Policy allowed it! ;) I should add, it's not just me here at Barefaced, I just try to steer the mothership (we might be listening to P-funk right now...)

Alex (or anyone who may have input), would you say that the Crest ProLite 2.0 would be a good match for the Big Baby 2?

Taking into consideration that sometimes I would be using this as a bass rig (Bass>Preamp>Amp), but a lot of the use would be Various Instruments, PC, etc. into a mixing desk then into the amp.

Would you suggest anything different? I currently have a CA6 and a QSC CX302, but would like to loose weight (both personally and in the rig! :) )

If you're running the amp clean (i.e. only infrequent light clipping) then it'll be great bridged into a BB2. If you're putting big subsonics in then a highpass filter set at about 30Hz is a sensible idea but not essential. If the amp is running into audible clipping or the clip light is on more than about 1/4 of the time then you need a second BB2. It'll be damned LOUD by that point though!

I don't think I would need to drive the amp that much, at the moment, the only band I am playing without PA is just a (loud) drummer and a guitarist, and the GK MB112 can't quite keep up, but I don't need that much more volume.

I do use low B in some stuff, and also some of the stuff I do with another band (dubstep, hip hop etc) does get some subsonic frequencies, but we always have PA on stage (so BB2 would be a monitor), and I live in an apartment, so the BB2 would be getting minimum volume for this at home.

My current rig is Bass(or PC etc)>ZoomB3>Soundweb DSP>CA6>15"Sub + 6.5"/1.5"PA Cab. This is way overkill for what I need, especially weight and size wise, and at volume 1 it rattles my whole apartment!

I don't mind running through the DSP at home, but I would rather lose it from my rig (along with the other 50kg) especially if it is only to use it as a 30Hz HPF. Is there any way of incorporationg the filter into the cab? Or is there some small passive filter I could use inline, maybe attached to the back of the cab or amp?

You don't need a high pass filter in that case, the BB2 won't be working all that hard!

What's your current 15" cab?

Currently I am using an EAW SB150 sub and an EAW JF60, with crossover at 85Hz between sub and mids/highs (driven by Crest CA6).

At pratice space I use another EAW SB150 and 2x Peavey PR12's, with the crossver set at 100Hz (driven by QSC CX302).

Neither setups usually go above 50%.

I use and love the carvin dcm3800lx and used to use a dsp hp filter but found the clip light came on much easier and the sound was alittle less bright than when running no hp at all. This maes no sense at all and none of the other functions do this. I use it as a straight power amp and the twin just kills with it. Im using one side, not bridged.
