Official EBMM club thread! part the 2nd.

What model/finish/fretboard/pickup combo would peak your GAS-O-METER?

I really like Olive Gold, and as luck would have it I was able to trade for an Olive Gold/Gold Swirl/Rosewood Board Big Al SSS.

I would love to find a Bongo Hp or 5Hp in Olive Gold or one of the other shades of gold.

A Bongo is the next on my list after the Big Al. I'm a bit worried about that basswood body though. Not because of the tone. My Ibby is basswood and sounds great. But it is such a soft wood. I recently had to refill the screw holes for the bridge because it was drifting. It is a REALLY soft wood.

thanks, which ones ya looking for?
The one I want is the Ebony board...but EBMM says ya cannot get Ebony on the Big Al, unless it is some special edition or a Dargie...blahhhhhhh to that!

I've been looking for a five string with:

Fretboard: Preferably rosewood but might try a maple if the price is right. Or ebony if available. Although I'm sure that will be more expensive.

Color: Vintage or tobacco sunburst. But here's the problem. I want either a matching headstock or a roasted neck which I like with the burst colors.

Pups: SSS.

I've seen these but not with a matching headstock or the roasted neck. But overall it's been hard to find big als out there compared to the avalanche of Stingrays. Hopefully EBMM does another run that has what I want.

Really? ;)

What do You think guys, ...should I open a new thread, something like: "EBMM reflex & 25th Anniversary Club"? :eyebrow:

hey if ya start a reflex club give me a headsup...I have a 2010 white and black binding reflex much like your 5 er....cept mine is the HSS yours is the HH right?

either way, would be happy to join up and blaab on reflex stuff

Ok, I just almost fell off my desk chair!
Have you guys seen this new limited edition Classic Stingray?
they are making a 200 limited run of these.
They are a pre order scenario, for delivery in mid November-ish?
The store where I bought my new Big Al are taking orders.
I temped to sell the house and order one....hahaha!! :D
Only a mere $1,939.00 sheckles for one.....OUCH!!! :(
( Ya think the wifey would mind the house gone? ) ;)

Here is some of the dealer info on the bass.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
" They are essentially a Classic 4 in white with gold flake that we call "Gilded White" ( similar to Black Sugar but with white instead of black). The entire neck is Gilded White. They all feature gold hardware and best of all... they're both active and passive! The last knob (closest to the bridge) is a push/pull pot. When it's in the down position the bass is active and the knob doesn't do anything. When you pull the knob up the bass goes passive and that knob acts as a tone knob.

All of the other Classic features are there ; slab ash body, 2 band EQ, string through bridge with mute kit, truss rod wheel, classic skinny frets, classic skinny nut, classic Music Man decal logo and a 7.5" radius on the neck. "

2005 Stingray 5 - Egyptian Smoke

At the last wedding I did we had full pro sound at a venue in NYC that gets some national acts, and the sound guy works a lot of the bigger places in the city also. He said I had one of the best tones he's ever heard. Thanks MMS5!

Delivery in January..
I hope it has the same neck profile of my 1990 trans white. ( Allegedly 1 of 8 ever made, and possibly the first in this finish )

Hey man, great looking Stingray ya have....Is that like some type of vintage trans white color? Beautiful board as well.
You were SOOOOOOOOOOO right about the Big Al basses.
I sold one of my Rays and bought my first Big Al sss rosewood several weeks ago.
LOVED it so much, just sold of my 30th LE Stingray that I never played and bought a brand new Pearl white Big Al sss with matching headstock and maple board....will be here next week!!
These Big AL's are truly the SHI*&^%$%#@ you were right! :D :bassist:

Was a bit bored last night so took the pics I have and compiled a "family portrait" of the basses ( and 1 guitar) currently in the Stable.
I know, I know....a few are not EBMM product....But the majority ARE :)
I have leaned heavily towards the EBMM basses in the past few years for sure.
Always subject to change with a strong wind or yet another bad G.A.S. attack....hahaha!! :)
