Unless you're talking to a metal musician. They'll usually say that LTDs are solid stuff. Even saying ESP gives a puzzled look, but when you say, "ESP is the brand of guitars the guys in Metallica play" then they're like, "Oh cool! Metallica f*****g rocks!"

But, yeah, even here on TalkBass ESP and LTD are kinda slept on.

Loving my new (to me) LTD Stream. Surprisingly light. Was able to set the action really low and it’s giving me a nice growl through my GK.

Honestly, I don't even care what any of them are worth. They are all terrific sounding, great playing and reliable tools that help me make the music I want to make.

Yes on this. I have a B205 I have owned since 2000 that has been good. Also had a D4 for a while, sounded good but neck-thru is not my thing. I have been watching another 4 string. Just can’t pull the trigger. I recently bought a Fender p, mainly everybody has a fender p. I have already bought and sold 2 other fender p’s. Just can’t dig the p bass sound. On the fence on selling it. That would really help my decision on the LTD!

I like the typical P Bass sound but I have struggled with finding a P Bass that feels right to me. I ended up buying a couple PJ basses, one ESP and one LTD, and they tick all the boxes for me.

Great tone, feel and they are super stable. ESP seems to get the things that I find important in a bass just right.

And that's the beauty of ESP/LTD. They have traditional P style basses (albeit with faster necks) and more modern style basses. I feel like there's something for everyone. Too bad they're so overlooked. I say it all the time, I never set out to be an ESP/LTD guy, but those basses found me and are here to stay.

Great looking bass - I've been eyeballing the 5-string for some time now. Does it have Thunderbird-esque playing aethetics? In other words, is the 12th fret a little further away from the player (to the left, reach-wise) as they are on something like a T-Bird?

My p bass issue is past the 5th or 6fb fret. I just don’t like the sound. My humbucker active eq Ltd seems to correct this sound.

This summer I had a luthier friend do some work to my LTD 5-strings.

My F-205 was rewired fully passive (V/V/T configuration) and the plastic nut was upgraded to a GraphTech TUSQ one. That plus a setup with LaBella Rx steels 40-118 and the bass plays and sounds phenomenal! The EMG-HZs the bass came with with no preamp/fully passive sound killer to me!

I test drove the ESP LTD GB4 today. Bottom Line Up Front: Not impressed. The maple/maple neck was unfinished, like a Squire Affinity PJ, and it had a good amount of fret sprout. The sound? Meh.
