Any chance to have the instructions for properly biasing the finals on this one? I want to order some matched tubes from TAD next week...
Just dropped it off at the authorized repair facility in San Matao. They said maybe 2/3 weeks as both of their best amp techs are away at the moment, and they are backed up on amp repairs. Great says I.
No I haven't yet, but since this thing is so midrangey I bet you wouldn't need one. My volume isn't even up halfway and my guitar player told me to cut down. I do have a rumble 115 and a rumble 410 if I ever wanted to try though
I wonder if support would have any information? The last time I talked to them they wouldn't share anything if it wasn't in the manual, but this seems like something we should know.
The shop my amp is at is currently waiting for the schematics from Fender. When I pick it up I'm going to asking the tech some questions to be sure.
I tried it with an Ampeg 210 AV, couldnt here a difference in volume or sound. Very middy sounding amp, anyone has the freq range for the tone controls? Right now with my new active 5-string Lorita bass I have the treble and mid at digit 2 bass at digit 9 and mid swich at low. This amp is made with Fender basses in mind, it sounds good with my FCS journeyman -66 relic and with my Sire P5 5-string

Do you think it would sound good with a stingray which is active? Do you think it sounds good with a 5 string active bass? My guitarist said it sounded muddy with my B string, not middy
Yeah sure it sounds good with any bass I think. You have to find "your" sweetspot I takes a little experimenting and fiddling around with active bass. Great slap sound if you want that and I do.
Hard to imagine there is a 15" speaker in there
I got my ACB back from the shop. As expected, it was a pesky 12ax7. Also, now when I switch it into play mode from standby, there is no noticeable noise. Before there was bit of electronic twitching while it switched over. That's gone. Probably the 12ax7 from the get-go. The tech wouldn't let me take a picture of the schematic, said it was against the contract. He mentioned that he thought it looked like a well-built amp and that it would last decades. Man, it sounds sweet, and I'll be using it this weekend instead of the TV15. Yay.

Yep, I used mine live 6 times before a tube went bad and for the sake of the warranty, I took it to the shop. It did very well in a 6-piece band, holds it's own on Santana, El Chicano, Rock n Roll, Classic Country. The guitar players love it. We play Moose and Elks Lodges as well as the senior center circuit. Some dive bars. I had to use earplugs once and I had the keyboard player go to the back of the room to see how it was sounding. He said it was fine but could use a bump up. So I bumped it up. Sounded great. I was kind of tripping about having it so loud but the next day at home it was fine.
Do you think it's better for passive basses? My guitar player has done nothing but complain about my sound with it. I have used 5 and 4 string stingrays with it. He has complained about it having a muddy sound and I don't see how. I've only used channel one. I think he just hates the midrangey sound for whatever reason.
I played at a gig last weekend using it and a Spector Forte 4 string (not in passive mode) and was told it sounded great by a few different people that I trust. I used channel 1 input 1 for most of it, and did a bit of channel 2 input 1 towards the end.

I myself don't understand his definition of muddy. He claims he hates mids on a bass and they should be turned completely off. He has said that they cause distortion when turned up high and cause an even muddier sound. I guess he thinks bass should sound deep and low. So I give up.
