I love tort, and it does look great on sunburst. But so does black. I actually go back and forth on which I like better on the bursts. Can't go wrong with either.

Sunburst. I ordered a black pickguard yesterday, and got some new la bellas too.
It's really a great bass, nice and light, its a pity that im leaving town for 4 days, wont be able to play it!

(Indoors, this one was closer in color as yours. The sunlight made it look much lighter.)

Absolutely. I want to get a tort pickguard for both of them. And the Jazz V I got about a year ago, also on Craigslist, for $230. That's a grand total of $630...I lucked out huge.
I like the color of yours, and mine..not much pink at all like some honey blondes I've seen.
Here's my Honey Blonde '06 Hwy 1. It was upgraded with a Hinesley Mojo P pickup and push/pull mid/tone control. The range of tones on this bass is amazing, to me (being almost strictly a p-bass guy
). I'm thinking about upgrading the tuners with some Hipshot HB-7's - the only con with this bass is it doesn't stay in tune as well as my American Series P.. Otherwise this bass is equal or better in quality/sound to my MIA. I love this bass. i figure this is a good place to ask this question cause i don't want to start a new thread.
i'm positive i want a hwy one pbass for my next bass, question is, black or honey blonde? i don't dig the sunburst or the wine red. i'll definitely end up slapping a b/w/b pickguard on either one i decide on, but i'm having THE hardest time making my mind up. i own a reggie hamilton sig bass, which is black on black, so it would either be really cool or really boring to have a matching one. thoughts?

It's totally subjective, and only you can decide which you like best. Having said that, I know I'm biased (having owned a Honey Blonde Highway 1 Strat and Highway One P-Bass). IMHO, I think the Honey Blonde looks best with that type of finish.
Aesthetically, I normally prefer the glossy finishes. But the H.B.'s look good without the gloss, and age well. You just have to put a different pickguard on it to make it look it's best.
The sunburst isn't bad either, but H.B. would be my recommendation. YMMV.

awesome. i love the finish on the highway ones for that reason. does anyone have pictures of a honey blonde that has aged a little? or maybe a picture of a honey blonde pbass with a b/w/b pickguard on it? one of the reasons i like the idea of black is that it seems like it would show wear really well. i remember seeing a picture on tb somewhere of a black jazz bass with dual darkstars and a black pg that was all beaten up, i loved the look of that, so that's what had me considering black on black for the pbass. i think i like basses that look mean. haha.
'06 with Seymour Duncan Antiquity II's. It's my secondary bass to my P-Bass. It's showing signs of wear and is starting to yellow just a bit. I've always wanted a bass that showed the miles that I put on as opposed to a factory or another player.

Got this one yesterday, local shop. Under 600.00 out the door! 1st US Fender too. Very impressed with tonal range on it.

Great looking basses guys
Just bought an 06 Hwy one P for $550. It's in pristine condition without a scratch. Still had the plastic on the pickguard. Well, what can I say I love it. One question...I want to change out the white pickguard to a tort. How difficult is that with the knobs and input jack being attached and all. I'm also thinking of changing the knobs to black Jazz knobs and am wondering what anyone thinks. If anyone has done it and has pics I would appreciate seeing them. Can I get number 216 for the club?

changing the pickguard is pretty simple,, just pop off the knobs, use an appropriate sized socket or wrench to loosen the nuts on the pots & jack, remove all the screws & you're half way there
I have a 2003 Highway One Jazz. It's too late tonight, I'll post a new picture of the finish tomorrow when I get some sunlight. In the meantime, what number am I?
Here she is. Not many people here with the same color as me. BTW, what are some of the differences between the Highway One MIA Jazz and the regular MIA Jazz?
