I could get in on this!:D

I'm having a little trouble, when I have the tube channel on, and the volume any bit loud, I get certain notes on the E and A strings going very boomy and louder by far than the rest, mostly around the Db area, this is at home, could the 1x15 be too much for practicing, or mabye a tube problem?

I still have plenty of time to swap to a 4x10 if that would suit better, or add a small 2x10, or 2x12 for home indoors play.

Mostly happens with the neck pickup, and mostly when played with fingers.
Any help would be appreciated.

Got a great clean channel, and wicked grit/distortion, actually the distortion seems to lessen the boomines in the tube channel. Mabye when plauing the tubes clean, I'm pusing too much bass.

Ummm...could be a few reasons. As I stated, I didn't like the 115 cab because I found it too boomy. From my experience with all three of basses (Washburn 5 string active, Fender Jazz Hwy 1, and my MIJ Jazz Bass Special) I have the bass knobs on the head usually around the 11-12-o-clock positions. Have you noticed your issues when using differnt amps? Maybe it's your bass???

Oh, its cool, I sorted it yesterday, played in my garden, sounded perfect, seems the room was too small.

Someone also told me it could be due to wood floors?! And that I should take off the castors?


Oh, and I tried it wit about 10 basses, done it with all of 'em.

:eek: Just be careful with castors on your Marshall cab. These are made with MDF and are NOT castor friendly. As well, I'm glad you sorted your problem out. Some notes in certain places are like that. If you hit that certain note, the room reverberates on only that note. A bathroom stall at my old University echoed only on a "D.":D

Lol, mine was Db!

I been talking to a mate just today, said he didn't realise his room had a note like that, turned up the vol and gain really high, and all the paintings, clocks, and anything else on the walls fell off when he hit it!

I want two square Marshall 4x15 cabs - anyone ever seen those?
I saw Jack Bruce in West Bruce & Laing when I was 12 or 13 and jack had two stacks of those (4 cabs) with 200W Marshall Major heads. The top cabs were slant style so the stacks looked like marshall stacks - only BIGGER.
Sounded totally rad with his Eb3. It was a long time ago but when you're a little kid that stuff makes a BIG impression.
Lemmy Kilmeister uses those cabs on the bottom of his stacks. They're rare.

So...as a result of playing balls to the walls loud at my last outdoor gig, I've blown a speaker! (I think) I'm getting some buzzing when I play any notes on the E and A string.

Luckily I'm still under warranty, but was told that they will not cover blown voice coils (which I suspect.) Hopefully, it's a factory defect and will get a replacement for free...:(

I don't intend to hijack this thread, but since we have a massive Marshall expertise gathered here I want to ask a question:

For a few years I played through a Marshall 4x10 cab, model 1540, i guess it's from the mid eighties. I still own it, but since it's never used I'm about to trade it away. I would like to be able to link info about it, or at least read more about it myself, but I don't find any information about the 1540 on the official Marshall website.

Anyone of you Marshall gurus that can post a link or tell me a bit more about the cab?

I assume you tried goggle and other searches. There are some sites like this: [Invalid or Expired Link Removed] that might be helpful - maybe?
Try searching for older gear listing sites. Maybe UK based places

I can supply some information on the 1540 -

Introduced 1987 as part of the Silver Jubilee Bass System. For the first year it was finished in silver/grey tolex, after that in black tolex. I think the range was discontinued in 1992.

From the catalogue :

1540: 4x10 Bass Cabinet
100 Watt 10" speakers of the highest possible quality were designed specially for this cabinet and give tight and punchy performance.

I can't believe I missed this...

I have 2.

Marshall DBS 7200 series 2000 watt bass head.
Marshall DBS 7400 Series 4000 watt bass head.

I had aMarshall Jubilee 3560 in chrome, but I sold that.
I also had a Marshal 4x12 cab, but I got rid of that as well... But I am always looking for another.
