Hey everybody, just a small update for you. I was planning on getting a Marshall VBC810 to go with my VBA400 head but I just got a pretty darn good deal on what you see below..

The members of this club use Marshall BASS amps and cabs. As for blowing speakers and such, a bass can blow any speaker if pushed the wrong way.

A smidge less than 900 quid brand new.
Cheaper than I've seen it online. Yay for the "credit crunch." It certainly does weigh. The drummer and I will manage though.
Sounds freakin' awesome with my '73 Precision.
1963 Marshall SuperBass here. It's only 50 watts, but I've never needed more volume with it. It has a tube rectifier which I'm told is what gives it the glorious sag and immense phatness. It also has pretty huge character, having survived a house fire that scorched the exterior pretty badly but somehow left the guts intact.

It's probably fair enough if he's spent a lot of money on it and doesn't want it damaged. Certainly you could use the head with a bass cab though, could be fun.
Marshall MB4210...I have no pictures...and it's 200 miles away. But I promise I have one!
So long as the cabinet has bass speakers, those 35 watt green-back celestions in the guitar cab's would blow their cones with bass frequencies.
Some of the marshall bass cab's & heads do look like the gat ones.

KMB...I would love to get into an MBH, MBC410 and MBC115, but I can't swing the $1500US for a new one, and there is no such thing as a used one.
I have a '78 Ric 4001 that sounds great through my Sunn Coliseum 300, but I recently played my new H1 Jazz through the Marshall at The Bass Place and I was blown away by the great sounds I could get with the classic and the blend.
If your "re-evaluation" has you looking at other heads, please let me know, as I could be very interested in your MBH. I guarantee to keep it fed and watered properly...and the drummer will never go near it!...E207

How is everyone eqing the modern channel. I still cant get a good usable tone out of it. I also found the classic to be very mid scooped and doesnt cut through in my metal band.
So I bought a sansamp PBDDI.
But the biggest issue with the MB line is the cabs, they sounds cheap and cant handle much bass at all. I did a gig with my cab and an eden XLT410, and the eden handled the low B and drop C tuning with my other bass easily, while the marshall cab was struggling. I had to cut a fair bit of bass so the speakers werent distorting

There was a Marshall 2x15 bass cab for sale at a store. Not sure the model number but it only had a single speakon plug. There was an Ampeg 2x15 next to it - the Ampeg was taller - maybe the Marshall wider.
They had nothing to plug into it. Anyway - how would the sound of these compare to other 15s? Just curious. Ineed another speaker cab like a hole in the head.

Just got to try out a MB4210 at a local store... AND WOW!! I was BLOWN away by the classic channel! Man, it could sound just like Lemmy but with ALOT more bottom end! I'm definately getting this. I was able to dial in a very Duff McKagan like tone with the modern channel blended with the classic aswell, quite awesome... Definately a go-getter, haven't felt this good about playing bass for a long time
Most definitely not for the faint of heart - or for doing anywhere but in the rehearsal space. Just a bit of fun. Hell FIRE was it loud!
