thanks! Man, that rig looks very cool. I played through a single SP212 briefly and it was pretty nice. But Ultimately with the band I am confident I would have to have a pair of them.

and if you can emuate Paul Turner's sound? ..man, that is awesome! What a great player and tone! Did you consider or try any other super 1x12's? Or just went straight for the SP212's? Is there anything you don't like about them?

I have a line on an original Neo Dymium loaded SP212 from the local/regional Orange Rep and can get a pretty good deal on it. But would need a pair of them. I believe I read they are in short supply and hard to find the ones with Neo speakers. Hmm.

I also have original Neo speakers in SP212, Made in England, both. The new ones, I think, are Made in PRC with no neo speakers... and yeah, Paul Turner, I get pretty close with his sound, but with a little more mids in it, don't like to be a strict copycat, but I love his sound. But I can only do it with two sp212, with one there's too much grit in the sound of Orange TB500H for emulating his sound of Aguilar.

I'm saving now for a pair of Aguilar DB112, and after maybe an Aguilar TH500 if there's any money left cause I orderd myself a custom handmade fretless bass, sooo, the head won't be anytime soon. I don't want to sacrifice my present gear for it.

When I bought the orange head, I had an Ampeg 410HLF wich I loved, but when I tried the 2xSP212, there was no question, I had to have them :D
Never tried the head on some other cabs with 12" speakers in it cause in my country where I live, only Tonybassboss (also a fellow TBer) and I use them as far as I know over our local forum, all the others use either cabs loaded with 10" or 15" speakers. (at least him and me use a better ones, those cheap ones I don't count because they aren't a match to his GK Neo 212 and my SP212's)

So you're looking to replace your SP 212's with a pair of Aguilar DB112's?

Quick update on valves for the terror.

I have just spoken to really nice guy at orange technical, he has informed me that all their amps now come with jj tubes fitted, sure enough I have just taken the top off and there they are!
He also told that the DI problem is now fixed and that it will work fine into a -10 pad on a desk.
10/10 to orange.
I will fit the new valves anyway as they have been fully tested and passed by the supplier.
Apparently a lot of valves do fail testing even the expensive ones!

I'm seriously thinking of dropping some coin on a TB500. I own a AD200b mk3 and love the heck out of it, except for the weight. The practice studio we use has Hartke heads on Mesa cabs. It would be nice to be able to stroll in and plug in a TB500 and get all that Orange goodness without breaking my back lugging two basses, effects board, and the Ad200b.

I also have OBC410 that is killer but have been toying with adding a Bergantino 212 for a bit of tonal variation. Any experience with the Bergantino 212 and either the TB500 or AD200b head??

Oh, we play rock/metal/alternative and I play Rickenbackers, both 4001s and 4003's.

I bought he Orange Terror Bass for small venues, my stage rig for larger places is a '75 Hiwatt DR201 paired with a Hiwatt 2150 and Hiwatt 4123. The Orange TB has a great vintage tone and feel, the best Hybrid amp I have ever played. I highly recommend it.

I will try those next time around! Thank you for the advice. I do quite like the gain set at 12 o clock on this amp it really is gritty without sounding distorted. Can you raise your gain higher than that without going into distortion?

Yep OCB 115 it is a great sounding cab! As I said above I got this for smaller venues but the thing is in smaller venues we use a small PA with no subs so I am still responsible for providing the low end in the room, this rig does it in spades. Can't say enough good things about it. It even has a second career as the back up to my Hiwatts.
