I recently got a Wren and Cuff Red Camel and thought you guys might enjoy seeing it.
It's from 2006. Matt had a thing to say about the wiring on that thing when I asked him about this pedal's history. Here is what he wrote:
The wiring inside is pretty sloppy, haha. Didn't have the experience to make it look nice back then.
The is the same circuit as the way huge red llama. In 2006 Way Huge was out of business and Dunlop had not started reissuing way huge pedals. We made those for a while because you couldn't buy the Red Llama's for an affordable cost during that time. Also, the circuit is very simple so it was a good pedal to do without a lot of experience.
That's the Red Camel story!

Just got this new version of the Phat Phuk B due to be released soon

I ordered a Phat Phuk with external bias and Matt was kind enough to send me the first of the new ones leaving his shop.

Great stuff as always.

I opened my 2024 mystery today, delayed because I've been out of town.

It's a dope glow in the dark small box White Elk. But… the finish is cracked around the switch and top right pot. I sent W&C an email about it.

I have the Phat Phuk B v.2 and I love it. For example.. it makes my TI flats thump.
I had the v.1 version 7 years ago and that one distorted very easy (too easy),
This v.2 version is much cleaner, sounds better IMO. It CAN be dirty it you want.

Anyway, how bad is the mid scoop on their Big Muffs, especially the Box of War?

I used to have a TFR. Loved it, except when I kicked it on I'd always get buried. But back then I had no knowledge of EQ and played a Jazz bass with both pickups full on.

Of course in an ideal world I'd get the custom version with the flat mids, but I'm not in the US.

The Super Russian might be worth a look. It doesn't have boostable mids but it has both flat mids and creamy dreamer mods on toggle switches. It's one of the 3 muffs I've ended up hanging on to and the biggest sounding of them all
