How do you like the Delanos in it? Did they fit in the original routes?

Hey, the Delano in terms of size were perfect, but the screwing spots are different so work on that had to be made.

I truly prefer them on the bartolini pickups, aggressive but clean sound.

I really like the finish. Simply stated but really classy.

Rejoining the club after too long of am absence my new (to me) Hyperbass - detuners on the headstock and bridge. Curly maple front, mahogany body, and plays like an absolute dream!

String recommendation please

Long explanatory .....

I removed battery out of my Zon in 2016 as I was seldom even opening a case and had not gigged in years

Got a new Bergantino forte’ and HDN 1-12 in October and put in new battery

Confession: As I haven’t gigged in years , my 2001 Sonus 6 Custom fretless 6 string still has original strings as when new and seems to have lost most of its muah

Originals are Zon medium gauge rounds

Other bases I own have Rotosound Swing Bass 66.

As I find the C string a little too fine and Rotosound 6 strings are heavier gauge I am asking if anyone else has used Rotosound round 6 string sets on their Zon.

Will I encounter any issues string through Bridge with heavier gauge strings ?

All opinions are welcomed regardless of brand choices and probable string shaming ...

I've got one of the newer Zon's but I suspect that it has the same bridge and haven't had any issues trying different strings. I do use the regular gauge though. I've installed D'Addario XL's and DR Pure Blues and ended up keeping the DR's on. The have great growl and mwah and feel really nice.
Personally I'd stay away from installing the Rotosound RW Swing Bass strings on your fretless. The Phenowood is really hard but those strings are similar to installing a bastard file on your bass!

I was concerned about standard gauge strings possibly being too thick for bridge

High C is too fine for my liking with Zon Stock Med Gauge

Used to own 72 Ric. Put on Roto66 day one and changed them regularly. It was stolen mid 80s and had serious grooves in frets. I used do serious scale/arpeggio warm ups faithfully in those days

I love pheno wood feel and stability

My Sonus is bolt on and has no truss rod

Now that’s some serious confidence in a neck

My first one was quite a bit heavier than my new one by a good 2-3 lbs

Hello! So, I see stated in the Zon user's guide that only 'Zon Finesse' should be used to clean the body, but I don't find that product in their store or maybe I'm over looking it or looking in the wrong place. (been there before!)

What product(s) are you fellow Zon owners using?

Just practicing with my Zon Sonus 5/2

Hey. I used to own two Zon basses but sold my Sonus Special because this old 1994 Sonus 5 sounds better, I think it is primarily the pickup placement that makes me prefer it.
But alas, the Bartolini pre in it was acting up lately and had to be replaced. To turn this into an advantage I installed a John East pre in the old slapbird today. Here's some pics of its surgery...

The new pre is an upgrade indeed. It adds a bright switch, mid dial with sweep, passive tone and passive mode. The pre has a bass "window" frequency range you can set that you operate with the low dial and you can also set the shelving frequency for the treble dial. So far I am really impressed with this pre.
