I love the exquisite bass but I am more thrilled to see that he is going through the rite of passage that is the old Peavey combo. Every bassist must endure the Peavey combo to truly appreciate how good we have it now. Paying for his own bass to boot…Kid has a future!

That Peavey was already old when I bought it about 20 years ago (NB I have one year's experience twenty times over, not 20 years experience). Heavy but seemingly indestructible! The band he's in at the moment play Stevie Wonder, Thundercat, Vulfpeck, Jamiroquai, all sorts really. He likes some more obscure (to me anyway) metal bands but as long as he's playing, he's happy.

My first amp was an old Peavey TKO 80 combo. Trying to be heard next to a 100 watt Marshall half stack was difficult. ;-)

Now the kid needs to tiger stripe his nails to match. Or better yet, put blacklight nail paint on so his fingers glow under the stage lights.
As for that classic Peavy combo... sure you'd need the strength of King Kong to haul it to gigs, but man those things sound thunderous. A Dingwall low B through it would be unreal.

I'd time the "maybe I'll eventually get to try it out" the second he fell asleep on the first night of ownership!
