well, I guess we knew it was too good to be true . The epiphone vintage thunderbird pro has already gone up in price ,in the first year of release by 100.00. I am glad I bought one when they were 599.00. they' re now 699.00 anyone have thoughts on this? how much do you think they will continue to climb?

Not surprised. Look at how the Fender prices keep going up---sometimes dramatically.
Continue to climb? Well, if they start selling decently at $699 then I would not bet against the price sneaking up again until the law of diminishing returns hits them in the face.

Price of wood going up maybe? I somehow doubt it’s market driven. Think it’s probably driven by material/labor cost.

Anyhow, I don’t think it’s a reflection of the state of the company. More reflection on the state of manufacturing.

it was a friend's a year ago, used but barely, and granted at minimal price yet despite sounding big it's a lump!

How many neck through new basses are on the market at this price point? An ESP LTD I think is the only one, no where near the build quality of the TBird IMHO.
I'm glad I got mine for the original $599, but if it had been $699 to begin with, I wouldn't have flinched.
Mine arrived as close to flawless in construction as I could have asked for. I adjusted the pickup height, changed the strings to Pro Steels after a month, adjusted intonation slightly and bridge height. It's an absolute killer!
