I almost never wait for them. In the case of FedEx, I will wait, but only because their pickup point is kind of far & their depot is only 3 miles from me.
If it's UPS, I ALWAYS set it for will call & pick it up myself, because the drivers are dyslexic or something.
They'll deliver to the wrong address in the rain, w/o getting a signature, and then be totally unapologetic about it.

I also get my stuff about 5 hours earlier when I pick it up myself.

The TBer I bought from set it up requiring a signature. It's going to the wife's office because there's always somebody up front to sign.

I just want my freakin' kick A bass!!!!!!!!

I am already having a hard time getting any work done because it's the last day of work before Christmas. But this adds another level. I think I'll go fix something on the road. Grrrrrrrrrrrr.

I keep updating the tracking info, that'll hurry it along, NOT. It sure is frustrating that I can't just order it and have it plop down in front of me seconds later. The CFL bulbs in my lights interfer with my stack. Gonna try LEDs.
