OH GOD FINALLY!!!...ETC...!

Hey!,

new poster to the board, not new to "boards", although I would love to say that my title meant "OH GOD I finally found this place", unfortunately...that's only half of it!

I've played bass for 35 years and have owned an A$$LOAD of axes, my current stable is...1, 25 year old Dean XL, 1, American Standard 5 Fender, 1, American Standard 4, 1 Geddy...and a shiny new (to me, it's older) G&L ASAT!

Here's my question...I've wanted an ASAT for YEARS! (I'm a tele fan what can I say?)...I think I may have stumbled on a custom shop bass for a REALLY good price, but don't know enough about them.

This is a bel-air green ASAT with an ebony fretboard, no fretmarkers. the headstock matches the body, and the hardware is all black.

As I said, I don't know enough about these basses, does anyone know if this could be a Custy...?

The gentleman that I bought this from on Ebay was understandably VERY attached to it, he and I have struck up a friendship since and this is what he told me about where the name ASAT came from...

"Leo Fender was always fond of Aerospace technology and this nations national defense. He read about Antisatellite missles and was awed. hence the ASAT."

I'm already amazed at the tone I'm getting out of this badboy!, I've never had a 2 humbucker config on pickups, and it also has a switch to go active or passive...I'm digging it!

G&L's are great instruments and teh lelectronics package on the ASATs/L200s are very versatile.

Can you do us a favor? When you get a chance, please click on "My TalkBass" and under the Settings and Options section, click "Edit Profile" and fill in as much information about yourself and your gear/setup as you can.
