Yes I know, but why would I gig with a 8 ohm 4x10, If I can do it with a 4 ohm 2x10? (I'm doing it.. double the speaker surface=+3dB. double the impedance= -3dB. same speakers, brand, AMP..)
the max output may be reduced because of the 2x10... then buy a 4 ohm 4x10 instead
my approach, by the way.
3 dB is not much, but the other point: for 3 dB increase, you must double the amps wattage.

Best solution is to get an amp that runs at 2 ohms anyways![]()
My power amp can handle 2 Ohms bridged @ 1000Wor (2)-channel operation w500W per ch @ 2 Ohm, or use any combination of 2 cabinets @ 2, 4, 8, or 16 Ohm.....

For an amp to bridge @ 2 ohms, it would have to be capable of running @ 1 ohm in stereo/dual mono mode
Sorry for butting in, but a clearer way of saying it may be that when bridged, each side of the bridge (or each channel of the poweramp) sees 1/2 the load. So whatever the minimum typical load for 1ch is, doubles when bridged.Yes. If it doesn't, then it would be rated much higher while non-bridged.
Basically, bridging doubles the voltage swing, but does not increase the current output capability.
