Oil for a difficult to turn truss rod?

Whenever threads are involved and there is any risk of seizure or rust, I will lubricate.
Single-action rod nuts, I use brake caliper grease. Not a ton, but it will last for ages.
Dual action, I'll add a little teflon or wax-based bike chain lube.
(As a former bike mechanic, I definitely err on the side of caution.)
Anything else, wax or soap helps.

I wouldn't use soap. It's hygroscopic and will absorb moisture, eventually causing the threads to rust.

That has mostly been for lubricating screws into wood, but definitely something I'll avoid in the future.

For screws, beewax is the best product I'm aware off. I also use beewax for lubricating the adjuster screw threads on violin bows.

A drop of 3 in 1 oil has always worked for me.

My regular repair/setup guy for the past ~20 years always put a dab of homebrew grease, which he made from a mix of Vaseline petroleum jelly and Liquid Wrench penetrating oil, on the threads of my trussrods.

AFAIK, lubricating the truss rod is bad only if the oil touches the wood.
