John Avila only ever played that song on synth in every show I ever saw (and I saw a lot!). A five-string is going to give you your best shot at comping it.

Played it years ago (sorry no tab)....I remember coming up with more of a hybrid of the actual part and jumping onto the guitar riff. Great song and without playing a synth I remember that it was difficult to make it work with guitar/drums/keys.......bouncing between the parts felt like I could convey/groove the song best (bar band settings).
