Ok I need help with Christmas crap

So my parents have no ideas of gifts for me for xmas and didn't give me anything for my birthday 2 weeks ago because I couldn't think of anything.

I've been searching hardcore for a solid bass under 300 bones lately (already own 1 $700 and 1 600 dollar bass but trying to expand my tonal possibilities.) I've become obsessed with perhaps purchasing a used warwick/pedulla at some point but for right now I need to come up with something decent under 300. Not looking for aggressive tones, as my current basses fill that nicely.

Here are the 2 I've been eyeballing.

Unless I can find something that sounds like a warwick or pedulla, or woody/growly type tone then I'll go with the second best thing for right now and that's a jazz copy. I've played squier and wasn't impressed. Any other suggestions are appreciated especially if they sound like either of the above mentioned basses lol.

I have the RBX4A2 and am very impressed with it.

I've also had a SX 4+1 and while it was a decent bass, If I was choosing I'd pick the Yamaha, solely on weight alone. Weight may not be an issue to you but my 4+1 came in over 11 lbs, which is an issue to me. (Arthritic spine)

The SX has decent electronics and 'feels' Fenderish, so you get the typical Jazz tone's and as such Mods are really open if you wanted to do some a bit farther down the road.

Yamaha, Lightweight very resonate body. Nice growl and lots of tones. It has the LED's which you may use if you like. Not as modifiable, as the Bridge is designed as part of the AIR system. However it's a VERY nice design and I like mine a lot. One thing I've heard(read) about the Yamaha is that the body is so light there is a touch of neck dive.

Of course YMMV

EDIT: OR... You could just find one in the classifieds here, might get something else in that price range! :)

I think right choice for u is Squire, they sound great for their price, i don't know if you can buy new one for 300$ but surely you can find the used one for that money. And my advice is definately is not to buy SX, never, never, never, cuz they are just stupid copies and better to wait a bit and add little more to buy right thing than an awul, bad copy, right?:eyebrow::D

I see the Schecter but what basses do you have??

every Squier is going to be different
I played a few that were outstanding and the last VM fretless was a total dog
so you have to shop around for these
