OK I'm new too

I've posted a few times but it's time I introduce myself.

I've been searching and loving what I'm finding so my questions will be few ;)

I'm 31 been playing bass for about 3 months.

I wanted to play bass when I was a kid but I ended up taking guitar lessons for a few years, never really learning much because I really didn't like playing it.

Fast forward 15 years of not touching an instrument and not really listening to a lot of music and out of the blue I buy an Ibanez guitar one day. I get back into playing a bit it's still not what I wanted so I picked up a Thunderbird Goth from GC and have been loving playing bass ever since, although the Thunderbird isn't exactly the easiest thing to play.

So I picked up a 5 string soundgear and wow, way easier to play than my TBird so I ordered the SR655 Poplar Burl Limited :D, and am taking delivery of it tomorrow. This has me gassing for a new amp to upgrade my Peavey MAX 110 combo, though I still need to research a lot more as amps can be a big investment.

Sublime is my favorite band to listen to and I hope to play like Eric one day but for now I'm real happy thumping out some slower blues and reggae, also a big fan of lates 70's early 80's punk and love guitar metal.

Aside from all that I'm just practicing a lot and hoping I'm not developing bad technique. I will be looking for instruction in my area, general theory, technique, reading etc. so if that's your thing please let me know. Or if anyone local wnats to hang out and let me pick your brain and jam for awhile that's cool :)

Thanks for reading :bassist:

edit: pics a few posts down.

Cool post; thanks.

Chad

P.S. If you don't already have it, get the book "We Sold Our Soul For Rock & Roll" for bass. Lots of cool stuff there. NIB, Snowblind...

There are so many resources available to you for lessons, shoptalk, reviews etc here at TB that you should take advantage of 'em all. BUT....don't forget your local brick n mortar shop either. I'm fortunate to have Bass Emporium and there has to be a comparable shop near you. Welcome to the bottom end of things!
