So I took an SVT300 in for repair about a month ago. It was losing volume and I was pretty sure it needed new tubes, but it hadnt been serviced in a long time so I figured I should take it in and have it checked out. I took it to a well known and respected service tech shop but its been a month and I havent heard anything from them so I decided to call. They looked up my amp and put me on the phone with the tech.
"So I checked out your amp a few weeks ago and youre right, its only putting out about 50% power and it needs a new set of tubes. These are pretty complicated builds so I put it aside till I get another chance to look at it. Im gonna order you tubes and it should be ready next week".

Seriously?? I say you put them aside and give someone else a chance to look at it.

Seriously?? I say you put them aside and give someone else a chance to look at it.

Unfortunately most of the amp guys in our area have retired. They are about an hour and 20 minutes away if I go at a time that avoids traffic... the next closest is 2 hours away.
