Ray and Dave Davies Recording New Kinks Songs for Possible Album

Even though they've been futzing around with a reunion for years, I guess they decided that they better put something out before it's too late, or before nobody cares anymore(even some of the most hardcore fans didn't bother with the stuff on Sony in the 90's). Now, as it turns out, a friend of mine was the drummer in Dave Davies' solo band, maybe I have an 'in' there. Naw, this most British of British bands wouldn't have a Yank; when's Pino available? My friend is currently in Brian Wilson's ensemble, which is ironic as he had a bit part in the "Love and Mercy" movie as an anonymous Wrecking Crew percussionist. But, then again, Wilson's incredible 'orchestra' is essentially a Wrecking Crew tribute band.

This reminds me of when Bill Wyman quit the Rolling Stones, and they started auditioning bass players. Naturally that's big news, so it appeared in lots of newspapers all over the world, not just the music rags.

My mom, in all seriousness, cut one such article out of her local paper and sent it to me, with the note "Why don't you call them up?"

I see you are from Yucca Valley. Ever play at Pappy and Harriet’s? My daughter took me there some years ago when We were visiting her. What a great venue for music. The Thrift Shop All Stars were playing that night.

Yep. Plus a number of friends and aquaintences. The TSAS is sort of the house band for Sunday nights, features a woman named Victoria Williams, real sweet person, quirky singer/songwriter. Her career got knocked off-track when she came down with MS, the first symptoms occurred when she was on tour opening for Neil Young. It’s under control now. Did you check out the old west town movie set?

When Mick Taylor quit, they reportedly tried out Clapton, Jeff Beck, Rory Gallagher, even American R’n’B/Country session guy Wayne Perkins, but all of them had enough sense to not get caught up in that foolishness.

Dang, I didn’t know Jim Rodford had died. I saw a show on the last full Kinks tour. Ray sang “Alcohol” and sprayed the crowd with a beer! Great show. I saw several of the “storyteller “ shows, too. Huge fan, I would take this gig in a heartbeat.

Still one of the best pop tunes ever written...

The boys have long pockets and short arms. They wouldn't pay Pino's per diem, much less his fee.

I wish them well though.
