Been a lurker for some time thanks for letting me in.
Started out on bass back in 1963 or 4. I worked in a music store after school and had the opportunity to try most of the new arrivals in the store.
One day I was picking on a new Fender Precision, out of curiosity more than accomplishment, and apparently impressed a bystander who turned out to be lead guitarist for a young up and coming " star " from a TV show called Swallows Juniors down in Melbourne Australia. Anyhow got invited to try out for and joined the group. Didn't even have a car licence at that time.
Well I could suddenly afford a new Bass. Bought an instrument called a Maton Ibis but shortly after that (early '65) the Fender Jazz Bass arrived in the shop and I became one of the earliest owners of a Jazz Bass in a Rock 'n Roll band in Melbourne. It was Black with a white guard.
The Vietnam War interrupted my professional progress as a musician but I've owned and played a number of really nice basses over the years but have earned more points since as guitarist lead singer.
Don't know whether I'll have much to contribute here but I'm sure I've still got a lot to learn.
