Greetings. Just found this site.
For an intro, I'm 55, messed around with bass a little bit in the past, but never had any training that would suggest I'm a musician. I had been away from it many years and decided to take it up with a teacher. I looked around for a teacher who I thought would be able to provide what I was looking for. My pitch was basically that at my age I have no illusions about becoming a Bass Legend; I wanted to learn enough so I could play along competently (relatively speaking) and have fun. This was a few months ago, and yes, I'm having fun. My teacher has a guitar student that he wants to pair me up with after I get a little more comfortable.
My main interests are classic rock (mainly late 60s & 70s) and blues. Now that I am ... "mature" ... I wish I'd had an appreciation for blues when I was younger.
My bass is a Cort Artisan with active Bartolinis on it. I love the neck. Some people have long fingers that look like the legs on an Alaskan King Crab, but I have semi-stubby digits, so the slim neck feels good.
