Sure. It definitely adds some variety. You could order several different capacitor values and see what sounds best to you.

Except that the positive (red) from the battery connects to the pickups. Also, as I said, I have an older Ibanez 6 string that the stock pickups connect to the battery and require power to work.

The battery also feeds into the circuit board linked to the pots. Look at the models listed on the diagram. They are all SR series, which has passive pups and active EQ.

Fair enough. Maybe yours need a battery, but later builds don't. direct replacement for soapbar ADX5 pickups is by an owner with passive ADX5s.

If you look at post 7 it seems like the OP got the pickups working once he hooked power to them. That seems to settle that part. I don’t know about their newer stuff but there was a point when Ibanez used a number of battery powered pickups.

This SR-885 bass that I have, does need the battery always. I did an "output" test by wiring a pickup to the stock output jack and connecting to the bass amp. I used a flat head screw driver to slide it from side to side on the pickup and without the battery you get an extremely weak non consistent from side to side output. When you connect the battery, you get normal output.
