Hi I have recently started playing the bass again after a 13 year layoff....the reason I stopped: death, changing music environment.
The reason I started again...my son...I want to jam with my son. He is seven and leaning towards drums and I want him to experience the joy and pure fun that can be had by playing an instrument. To put it simply...my son asked,"Why don't you play anymore Daddy?". All the reasons I stopped do not make sense to a 7 year old....actually they really do not make sense to me
I started playing on an acoustic guitar missing the bottom 2 strings when I was 14....Paul McCartney was my first big influence...also the Barney Miller theme and the Cantina theme from Star Wars
I was in a hair metal band for about 3 years. In all honesty I was/am an average bass player...had to practice ALOT to be OK, I am not one of the natuarally gifted LOL.
There is SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO much stuff on the internet for a bass player...this forum being tops....I would have been so much better if I had had the internet to help me along in my formative years
