Double Bass Old School Box Design: The LDS 1x15"

Nice schematic (Wiley E. Coyote would be proud) and helpful.

Now behind the blank, the port is still open and air goes in but nowhere to escape except back out where it came from. Any problems with turbulence due to that "dead area"?

I'm going to have to build one of these in a few weeks (just to see if I can).

The one thing that's not clear in the picture is that the shelf doesn't go all the way across. Thus, behind the blank, it just opens up into the main cavity of the box.

So the blank is flush with the back of the shelf? So there's no cavity there.

My apologies for being so vague. I guess a picture is worth 1024 words...

One thing I probably didn't clarify is that part E, and the Shelf, are two different pieces of wood.

That clarifies a lot. I would think that if the shelf and part E were cut from one piece that it would be even more stable.

I'm going to have to stop by the local high quality lumber yard and see if they have have 1/2" cabinet grade plywood. :)

I never feel bad about taking a close look at the sheets and choosing the nicest one from the pile. I also check to make sure the sheets are not badly warped.
