So I spent too much time last PM at the Itunes store listening to Larry Graham - Why hadn't I been exposed to him before?

Graham's most productive, funk-wise, period was with Sly & the Family Stone + w/early Graham Central Station. Then the man devoted much of his time to other things, and we're talking mid-1970s & on here. He's my favourite bassist of all time; his slap technique & Hendrixian soloing opened two more bottomless-pit avenues for bassists to express themselves.

As far as the paucity of his funky material, I'll sit on the fence here, b/c I'm way too biased in the positive direction, but many less-rabid bass-playing Graham devotees have said (respectfully) that Mr. Graham's genius is in musicianship, not in songwriting.
