Older EMG-HB Pickup Wiring Question

Hi all. Had a bass in pieces in a garage since the mid 90s basically. Trying to get it up and running again. I just want to make sure im wiring this thing right and the only diagrams I can find are for the newer models with the pins on the back. If I am reading the date code sticker correctly, this is from 1990.

So the way that it was sitting the pickup had the red and white wire both connecting to the volume pod. And it had the 9-volt connector only running a black wire to the jack. I would assume its missing a red connection but I have no idea. Any help is appreciated. Thanks.

I’m not sure what’s up with what you have there but here is what it should look like.

The diagram says “bare” wire but your white wire should be a shielded cable so there will be an outer braid which is the ground, insulation and an inner wire which is hot something like this.

Edit: the first diagram leaves out the tone control but it’s in the second one. You’ll want lower value potentiometers then a passive set up, typically 25 or 50Kohm for EMG’s.
